Airline frequent flyer miles; to the infrequent flyer they are coveted units of potential vacation flights to exotic locations like Las Vegas or Fresno. To me and my fellow road warriors they represent units of our bodies and youth traded in for meetings and seminars to push the things we believe in. I alone have two million miles on United Airlines. The free trips are however a dubious honor, because when you do get a weekend off or a break in flying for professional purposes, there is no longer any motivation to check in or clear security to fly.

With that being said, a team of us from Life University are getting ready (with much enthusiasm) to begin the most ambitious tour of my life. Almost 100 cities (we’ll probably be in yours) talking to our alumni and friends about Life University and our vision. We’ll also be talking to over 100,000 patients, prospective patients and community leaders—not about Life University but about chiropractic and the wonderful job you do. Everyone is welcome, regardless of their alumni affiliation. In addition, we hope to double the inquiry pool of students looking to become chiropractors, because until we do, our colleges will continue to compete against each other for a limited pool of future DCs.

It looks like I’ll have ample time on the plane to read, and at the top of the pile will be a copy of Today’s Chiropractic LifeStyle. This issue features an article on the work of Barbara Loe Fisher and the National Vaccine Center. Did you know that an invitation from Dr. Larry Webster was the tipping point in that center’s doors being open today, and because of it children’s lives are saved daily? It’s true. “Passions & Pursuits” exposes my good friend Dennis Perman for what he really is—a jazz musician and producer. Wow, chiropractors really do have passions; and interests that add up to “Money & Style,” love of their “Profession,” commitment to family, and meaningful “Relationships” with an obvious interest in their own “Health & Fitness.” The magazine will continue to celebrate the chiropractic lifestyle.

Oh, and the foot in the picture—yes, it’s mine. It wasn’t a slip on a snowy sidewalk (B.J.), but rather a missed step in a dark hallway. “Lis-Franc” is now of a personal interest to me. You’ll see me at the airport; I’ll be that obnoxious guy being ushered to the front of the check-in line. (Was this the universe’s way of eliminating the possibility of golf until The Power of One tour is complete?) In any case, enjoy the magazine; save your frequent flyer miles to attend Life Source October 19-22, and let life and healing unfold from the inside out.
